Don’t Wait To Quit Smoking, Start Today!
BySmoking is addictive, and trying to quit is equally difficult. Smokers would agree, since at one point of time in their life they would have had the will power to quit, even if it was for a few days. There are several products in the market today that claim to get rid of this dreadful habit, does it work? We don’t know yet, unless you know someone who’s successfully tried it. Until then you have to rely on what the hoardings claim.
Ask people to understand any changes in your mood that may be uncharacteristic for you. Remind them that hopefully these won’t last long. Let them know that the longer you go without cigarettes, the sooner you will be your old self.Do you have friends who smoke? Ask them to quit along with you, or at least not to smoke when you’re around. Be sure to tell your physician and pharmacist that you are quitting, too. Nicotine can change how some drugs work. You may need to change some of your prescriptions after you quit.
Support - Finally, but not necessarily the least important by any means is to get your friends and family involved with your plan. Let them know that you are probably going to be on edge for awhile and that you would appreciate it if they did not smoke around you. It is also a good idea to try to avoid cigarettes and smoking for the first few months.
There are several medications available now in the market that will help you quit smoking. These medications help reduce the withdrawal symptoms that nicotine causes, and help you get on the right track. There are some others that will also help you get out of any mental depression just in case you feel you’re heading towards it. Several nicotine patches are available and you can opt for it. They release small doses of nicotine through your pores into your blood stream and you don’t have the craving to head for a smoke.
Smoking is physical act, your hands and your lips are involved in it. They therefore get accustomed to it, if you feel like these type of cravings, head for a toothpick, lollipop sunflower seeds, mint, chewing gum etc this should help you quit smoking. The major change you need to make is within yourself if you want to quit smoking. Identify activities that would accompany you while smoking, like drinking coffee, after meals, when in stress etc. this should help you predict when you’re craving would begin and you can take control of it. Exercise also helps a lot, it gets the clean blood flowing and is a great diversion.
